The Announcement

In November 2019, ASF announced the second annual Jam, organized by ASF Adaptive Sports and SoCal WCMX:

February 14th-16th, 2020 will be a weekend of competition, fun, inspiration, and achieving goals for wheelchair sports players, fans watching, and volunteers participating… Being in a wheelchair or having another serious disability doesn’t have to be the end of someone’s drive to compete.

The Official Notice

ASF’s official notice video promised “a full day of WCMX and Adaptive Skateboarding competition from the best adaptive athletes in the world at St. Pete Skatepark, followed by a day of fun in the sun at Wounded Warriors Abilities Ranch.”

The Weekend

We partnered up with our west-coast family, SoCal WCMX, to throw down an amazing weekend packed full of WCMX, Adaptive Skateboarding, music, and more! We knew this event would be a hit after our first successful year, but WOW…

The competition featured Aaron “Wheelz” Fotheringham, UK champion Lily Rice, David Lebuser and the top USA and international WCMX and adaptive skateboarding athletes, battling it out for cash and prizes.

In The Classroom

News-2-You, a weekly newspaper for students with disabilities, made the Adaptive Sports Jam its featured story in its February 10, 2020 edition, so classrooms across the country read about the event the week it happened.

The Recap Videos

ASF published two recap videos in spring 2020: a best-of WCMX and adaptive skate highlight reel in March, and a full-length recap of Saturday’s competition in May. ASF described the Jam as:

the premiere adaptive sports event in the Eastern United States, with competitors from around the world joining the ASF team for a weekend of nonstop action!

ASF also announced a Sunday recap from Wounded Warriors Abilities Ranch (WWAR).
