Action Sports Foundation will mobilize its adaptive sports clinics for the first North and Central Florida Adaptive Sports Awareness Initiative, an inspiring and unique community effort planned, produced, and promoted. Its focus is simple— to educate, empower, inspire, and connect the next generation of athletes to adaptive sports.

To provide recreational, adaptive sports activities, and bring awareness to patients in hospitals, rehabilitation centers, schools, and to the general public; encompassing youth from grade school, middle school, and high school ages, adult recreational and on-site demo programs.

GOAL 1. To provide adaptive sports opportunities to hospitals, rehabilitation centers, schools and make the general public aware of the different activities available to wheelchair users and amputees. Showcasing professional athletes and their abilities.

OBJECTIVE 1. Over a 3-month period, ASF, partnered organizations, and other professional athletes will provide a mobile on-site demonstration showcasing Adaptive Fitness, WCMX, Adaptive Skate, Basketball, Wheelchair Racing, and Handcycling.

GOAL 2. To provide activities designed to increase mobility, performance, health, and independence.

OBJECTIVE 2. Exhibit a range of adaptive exercises that will benefit the end-wheelchair user and improve mobility, performance, overall wheelchair control and confidence.

GOAL 3. To assist individuals in developing a plan for acquiring equipment and resources to improve their overall lifestyle.

OBJECTIVE 3. An outreach/resource worker will contact individuals that attended the demonstrations and provide resources that will help them get involved in adaptive sports, community programs, meetups and area events.
